YES Community Counseling Center, NY
YES Community Counseling Center is a community-based not-for-profit located on Long Island. Funding received through this grant is helping to fill a large service gap that currently exists in Nassau County. Project W.I.S.H. will serve abused parents (parents who have experienced intimate partner violence) and their children. The goal of this project is to increase resilience and help families heal by strengthening relationships between children and their non-abusive parents and building community among survivors. Secondary outcomes include preventing the intergenerational transmission of IPV and adding to the knowledge base around effective services for survivors of IPV and their children. Services will be survivor centered, trauma-informed, and developmentally responsive. They will include individual and family counseling for children ages 0-18 and their non-abusive parents, and a multi-family group work program which includes dinner, informal opportunities for building connections, and concurrently run support groups for parents and children.
