The mission of Safe Futures is stopping abuse, restoring hope, and saving lives of those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, trafficking, child abuse, and elder abuse in southeastern Connecticut.
Safe Futures strives to eliminate violence in our community so that southeastern Connecticut becomes a place:
-Where violence and abuse are not tolerated.
-Where all victims and survivors are able to get the support and resources, they need to create a new life for themselves; and
-Where all children and teens feel safe and learn the skills to establish healthy friendships and dating relationships.
In partnership with Child & Family Agency (CFA), Immigration Advocacy & Support Center (IASC), Law Offices of Susan B. Carr, LLC, and other crucial community providers, The Center for Safe Futures (The Center), a program of Safe Futures based on the Family Justice Center model, will be furthered developed by enhancing existing and adding new services and programs for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and dating violence, and their children, and their pets, all under one roof. The Center’s goal is to provide hope-centered, judgment free, comprehensive, and survivor-defined services and programs.
There will be targeted outreach to Latinas and undocumented victims. Enhanced services will include increasing-availability of a bilingual/Spanish Child Advocate and Victim Advocate Law Enforcement; Camp HOPE America-Safe Futures/Pathways services; and capacity of providing training and technical assistance. New services and programs, with third-party agreements-access to-full-time clinical mental health provider (CFA), lawyer for civil matters (Susan Carr, attorney), and immigration support (IASC); a Spanish-speaking Support Group and a Peer-to-Peer Support Group. The intent of services is to improve systems of care-wrap-around services in one place; Family Preservation; and knowledge base of providers of services to families exposed to domestic violence.
