Nevada Urban Indians, Inc., NV
The Nevada Urban Indians, Inc. (NUI) Victim Services Program assists survivors of crime in recovering and thriving after a victimization. Their advocates are prepared to walk with you through the recovery process to achieve stability, autonomy, and confidence. They provide direct services, guidance, and support while working closely with other NUI and community programs to ensure vital needs are met and individuals and families are safe. NUI strives to break the cycle of violence.
The Specialized Services for Abused Parents and their Children – Northern Nevada Program specific activities and services provided through this funding will be:
-Development of a treatment plan specifically curated for 20 abused parents.
-Provide temporary shelter services for up to 21 days, as needed.
-Provision of direct services such as daycare assistance and talking circles (support groups).
-Provide referrals to legal aid, parenting classes and preventive health services at the agency’s Medical Clinic.
-Provide age-appropriate unique care plans for 20 secondary victims.
-Provide trauma-informed Domestic Violence specific mental health services for all primary and secondary victims through a contracted counselor.
-Conduct outreach and prevention services for abused parents and their children.
-Hiring one full-time Social Worker to advocate for the care of secondary victims, specifically those under the age of 18.
-Training for the staff on how to effectively serve secondary victims under the age of 18.
