Through the Strengthening AAPI Families to End Domestic/Family Violence demonstration project, Center for the Pacific-Asian Family, Inc. (CPAF) aims to break the cycle of family violence among AAPI communities in and around Los Angeles County through multigenerational work to strengthen families and promote social norms of nonviolence. This work requires examining culturally embedded practices and patterns of resolving conflict, of recognizing and addressing harm, and of raising children for responsible adulthood – and shifting those behaviors and values toward an approach conducive to a violence-free future. Thus, the project will (1) deepen family strengthening efforts across CPAF’s residential and nonresidential service programs and (2) broaden promotion of CPAF’s culturally specific principles & practices of ‘parenting with nonviolence.’
