Sharing affirmations out loud with others, or repeating them to yourself regularly can provide survivors with new ideas, build connections with other peers, and add power to the words they wrote. The exercise below is designed to increase individualized connection to each protective factor through self expression, especially to ones that may benefit from further growth. These affirmations can be used to replace harmful thoughts and to provide support during difficult sessions or situations.

Create your own affirmations using the Healing Activities Guide exercise below as well as all four affirmation posters for children and teens, survivor parents, adult survivors, and those who help and support them. These affirmations are based on submissions from participants at a webinar where Promising Futures introduced a Healing Activities Guide for building protective factors with survivors of domestic violence (DV).
