My Sisters' Place, Inc., NY

Through the Interventions to Mitigate Parent and Child Trauma (IMPACT) project, My Sisters’ Place will build on almost two decades of work in establishing and growing a collaborative interdisciplinary partnership with the Westchester County Department of Social Services, Child Protective Services.

The project will serve to strengthen and enhance this model of inter-agency collaboration by infusing it with a current understanding of trauma (including the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)) and the effects of family violence on children; creating streamlined, mobile access to proven, evidence-based age and developmentally appropriate, culturally and linguistically suitable therapeutic counseling interventions for 250 families and their children; and building more robust pathways to a full range of supportive services for survivors of domestic violence.

A thorough evaluation of the project activities, carried out in partnership with the Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare, will develop and disseminate useful guidelines for other such collaborations, improving the success of similar efforts around the country to connect families in the child welfare system to effective domestic violence supportive services.
