National Center on DV, Trauma, & Mental Health

The National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma & Mental Health offers foundational training and consultation for domestic violence (DV) programs and mental health clinicians working with children and families affected by DV and other trauma.

Children Exposed to Domestic Violence provides advocates with a trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive framework for working with children and their non-offending parents. This 12-hour curriculum, developed in partnership with Patricia Van Horn, PhD, Child Trauma Research Program at the University of California San Francisco, builds core competencies for DV advocates and provides practical tools and handouts for parents and staff.  Follow-up consultation is offered to integrate new skills into practice. In the coming year, we plan to adapt this curriculum into online training opportunities offered by our Center.
